CareFlite first in DFW to carry whole blood on air ambulances

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas- CareFlite will offer whole blood-on-air ambulances beginning Monday, January 30, 2023. CareFlite will be the first air ambulance company in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to do so.

Why does the type of blood we carry matter? Currently, CareFlite and many others like us carry blood “parts.” Carrying “whole blood” means all the components of blood are together at once. That means less interruption and less time needed to give care. And when seconds matter, it could mean the difference between life and death.

CareFlite will work with Carter Blood Care, who will supply the “whole blood,” and Texas Health Resources, who will store and replenish the blood to our helicopters.

We want to invite the media to join us at the inaugural “whole blood” launch in our CareFlite Helicopters at Texas Health Resources in Fort Worth. Opportunities for video and interviews can be scheduled for Monday, January 30, 2023, beginning at 1 pm. Please contact Kellee Wright, CareFlite Director of Communications to schedule.
